Session II: Introduction to project themes

Post lecture sessions, students are now introduced to two following broad project themes. Students are allowed to choose any theme they like.

1. Designing and developing of TUIs for upcoming international conference of HCI, IndiaHCI’15. Students are asked to brainstorm upon the conference theme and prepare a problem statement and objectives. The objectives can range from designing TUI for increased social networking among conference participants, TUIs for conference publications and presentations, author biography and related research areas, travel destinations nearby conference location etc.

2. Designing and developing TUIs for social innovation. For this theme, we collaborated with Shishu Sarothi – a premier center working for rehabilitation and training for multiple disabilities. Students will make a visit where they will be introduced to specific themes for TUI interventions. Themes range from supporting multi sensory unit, help students develop gross and fine motor skills, enhance social skills to interact with instructors and peers etc.

Session 1 – Day 1 (full day)

Visit to Guwahati Science Museum

Aim: Understand and experience tangible interaction, physical-digital interactions, education & technology, input modalities, feedback, output representation and interactive installation

How? Hands-on experience, take videos-photos-notes, perform collaborative and individual interaction

Tangible User Interface 2015 course to start from tomorrow!!

The course on Tangible User Interface (TUI) is going to start from tomorrow. The course is going to be for a period of two weeks where students will be exposed to basics and fundamentals of TUI and parameters – token, container, constraints, interaction methods, embodiment, characteristics etc. The course also includes a studio component where students will be designing and developing tangible interfaces for given themes.
